Borussia Dortmund came from a goalless first half to defeat SV Elversberg 2-1 in their Bundesliga encounter at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, with Felix Nmecha scoring twice to secure victory for the hosts.

The midfielder broke the deadlock in the 55th minute, finishing off a move involving Fábio Silva to give Dortmund the lead after an entertaining but goalless first half.

Nmecha doubled Dortmund’s advantage in the 71st minute, completing his brace after receiving a pass from Maximilian Beier, who had replaced the injured Carney Chukwuemeka earlier in the game.

Elversberg reduced the deficit in the 81st minute when Noel Futkeu converted from a corner, with Florian Yves Le Joncour providing the assist.

Elversberg enjoyed more possession after the break and registered seven shots on target compared to Dortmund’s six.

However, the hosts were more clinical in front of goal, recording 19 attempts against the visitors’ 16.

Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel also played an important role in the victory, making six saves to deny Elversberg a share of the points.
