Atlético Madrid agree €40m deal for Lookman

Spanish La Liga heavyweights, Atlético Madrid, have officially reached an agreement to sign Nigerian international Ademola Lookman from Italian side Atalanta in a permanent transfer worth around €40 million.

The deal, confirmed across multiple sources, is structured as a €35 million fixed fee plus up to €5 million in performance‑related add‑ons, with all major terms between the clubs and the player agreed.

Lookman, 28, has given his clear approval to the move and is now set to travel to Madrid for a medical and to finalise personal terms ahead of signing a long‑term contract with the Spanish giants.

In a statement shared by Atlético, the club expressed excitement about securing the services of the versatile winger, “We are delighted to welcome Ademola Lookman to Atlético Madrid. His pace, creativity and attacking threat will boost our squad as we push for success domestically and in Europe.”

Lookman’s arrival marks a major boost for Diego Simeone’s side, who have been linked with strengthening their attacking options throughout this transfer window.

The Nigerian star is expected to bring energy, flair, and goal‑threat from wide positions, attributes that have seen him shine for both club and country in recent seasons.

An official club announcement with full quotes and contract details is anticipated once the medical and paperwork are completed before the winter transfer deadline.
