Atalanta to offer Lookman new improved contract

Serie A side Atalanta are reportedly preparing to offer Nigeria international Ademola Lookman an improved contract.

The 27-year-old forward returned to team training on Thursday after a summer-long transfer standoff with the Bergamo club.

Tuttomercatoweb reports that Atalanta co-owner Stephen Pagliuca is expected to spearhead negotiations for the new deal. Lookman still has two years remaining on his current contract.

The proposed contract would maintain his 2027 expiration date but increase his wages and introduce a €40 million release clause.

This comes after Atalanta turned down a €45 million offer from Serie A rivals Inter Milan during the transfer window.

Lookman is set to make his first appearance of the season for Atalanta in their upcoming match against Torino.
