Abuja residents can see Tinubu’s impact, says Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said residents of Abuja can attest to the impact of policies and development projects being implemented under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Wike stated this during a media briefing in Abuja on Monday while responding to concerns that government programmes have not translated into meaningful benefits for citizens.

According to him, criticisms suggesting that Nigerians are not experiencing the impact of the administration are often driven by political sentiments rather than an objective assessment of developments on the ground.

“When people say citizens are angry and not feeling the impact of government policies, the question is whether such comments are based on facts or simply a desire to criticise the administration,” he said.

The FCT minister, however, acknowledged that the government had not achieved all its objectives but insisted that significant progress had been made.

“I am not saying the government has done everything or fulfilled all its promises, but it is unfair to ignore the efforts and achievements recorded so far,” Wike stated.

He maintained that Abuja residents, in particular, should be able to identify visible improvements resulting from ongoing projects and interventions within the Federal Capital Territory.

“If you truly live in Abuja, can you honestly say you have not seen the impact of this government? People should set aside sentiments and assess performance based on what is happening around them,” he said.

Wike urged Nigerians to separate political preferences from governance issues, arguing that personal loyalties often shape public perception of government performance.

He further noted that while the administration had not attained complete success, its policies were yielding results and offering hope for greater achievements in the future.

“We are not claiming to have achieved 100 per cent. If everything had been accomplished, there would be no need to seek another mandate. What is important is that progress is being made and there is hope for even better outcomes,” he added.
