UCL: Haaland’s goal earns Man City 3-2 win over Leipzig

Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland scored a late winner as the English champions defeated RB Leipzig 3-2 in a thrilling UEFA Champions League encounter on Wednesday night.

The Norwegian forward struck in the 78th minute to hand City all three points after the German hosts had twice fought back to level the score at the Red Bull Arena.

City initially took the lead in the 37th minute when Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba inadvertently turned the ball into his own net following a cutback from Nico O’Reilly.

Leipzig responded four minutes into the second half through Ridle Baku, who beat City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma with a shot at the near post after breaking down the left flank.

Enzo Fernandez restored City’s advantage in the 58th minute, heading home a cross from Iliman Ndiaye.

However, Leipzig refused to surrender, with Antonio Nusa firing in another equaliser 61 minutes into the encounter following a pass from Christopher Nkunku.

Haaland eventually settled the contest, arriving at the far post to convert Elliot Anderson’s low delivery.

The goal marked his 13th in nine career appearances against Leipzig and his 14th across all competitions this season.
