President Bola Tinubu has nominated six individuals for appointment as executive directors of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), subject to confirmation by the Senate.
The nominations comprise three serving executive directors seeking another term and three new nominees.
The nominees for reappointment are Abiodun Adeniji, Executive Director, Finance and Accounts; Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha, Executive Director, Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Mustapha Lamorde, Executive Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Community.
The new nominees are Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa, for Executive Director, Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie, for Executive Director, Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib, for Executive Director, Corporate Services and Administration.
If confirmed by the Senate, the six nominees will serve five-year terms.
The President urged the Senate to give the nominations prompt consideration, saying the move was necessary to ensure continuity in the Authority’s operations and strengthen its regulatory oversight.
Tinubu also approved the appointment of Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board/Authority and Legal Adviser, subject to the completion of statutory procedures prescribed under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The statement recalled that Tinubu appointed Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as the chief executive of the NMDPRA in April.
