President Bola Tinubu will travel to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday to perform the Islamic pilgrimage of Umrah and pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity and progress.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the visit will provide the President with an opportunity for spiritual reflection and devotion.
Onanuga said Tinubu would observe the religious rites associated with Umrah while seeking divine guidance and blessings for the country and its citizens.
“The visit gives the President an opportunity for spiritual reflection, devotion, and prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability, and continued progress,” the statement said.
Before departing Abuja, the President is expected to commission newly acquired Nigerian Air Force equipment at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the spiritual exercise.
The statement was dated October 28, 2026.
