Spanish champions Barcelona maintained their perfect start to the LaLiga season on Wednesday, defeating Racing Santander 7-2 at home to record their sixth consecutive league victory.
Barcelona took control after just eight minutes when Portugal defender João Cancelo produced a superb long-range effort from about 25 metres, finding the far top corner via the underside of the crossbar.
Raphinha doubled the advantage midway through the first half, converting from the penalty spot after Pedro Felipe brought him down inside the box.
Racing Santander reduced the deficit when Maguette Gueye controlled the ball before forcing it into the net.
However, Barcelona restored their two-goal lead when Cancelo’s effort took a deflection off Asier Villalibre and went in.
Raphinha struck again before the break, finishing from Dani Olmo’s assist to make it 4-1.
Barcelona were then awarded another penalty, but Racing goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala denied Lamine Yamal.
Santander pulled another goal back in the second half after Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny, who had replaced the injured Joan García at the interval, lost possession to Yassir Zabiri, who capitalised to make it 4-2.
Barcelona responded with three more goals to seal a convincing victory.
Raphinha completed his hat-trick from another penalty before substitute Gabriel Jesus added a sixth.
Yamal completed the rout with a counter-attacking finish as Barcelona remained the only unbeaten side in LaLiga and moved top of the table.
