Former Tottenham midfielder, Yves Bissouma, has joined Dutch giants Ajax on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
The 30-year-old Mali international was available as a free agent after Tottenham released him in June following three seasons with the Premier League club.
According to BBC Sport on Wednesday, Bissouma’s agreement with Ajax also contains an option to extend his stay for another 12 months.
Ajax technical director, Jordi Cruyff, revealed that the club had been negotiating with the midfielder since August before reaching an agreement.
“We have brought in an experienced player who knows what it takes to perform at the highest level.
He is capable of playing in several positions, and we hope he will be available for selection as soon as possible,” Cruyff said.
Bissouma moved to Tottenham from Brighton in 2022 and featured 111 times for the north London side during his spell at the club.
However, his final season at Spurs was limited, with the midfielder making 11 Premier League appearances.
He was also omitted from the squad for Tottenham’s UEFA Super Cup clash with Paris Saint-Germain in August 2025 after then-manager Thomas Frank cited persistent lateness.
Tottenham finished 17th in the Premier League for a second successive season, before Bissouma departed the club in the summer.
His move to Ajax now presents the Mali international with an opportunity to revive his career, regain regular playing time and continue his football journey in the Netherlands.
