Ligue 1: Sinayoko bags hattrick as Rosenior’s Paris FC beat Marseille 3-2

Lassine Sinayoko scored three times as Paris FC maintained their unbeaten start to the Ligue 1 season with an impressive 3-2 win away to Marseille on Sunday.

The victory lifted Liam Rosenior’s side to second place in the early league standings with seven points from their opening three matches, behind leaders Monaco.

Paris FC made a sensational start at the Velodrome, taking the lead just 25 seconds into the match. Luca Koleosho raced into space down the left before cutting the ball back for Sinayoko, who finished calmly.

Marseille responded in the eighth minute when Amine Gouiri capitalised on Adama Camara’s poorly struck back pass to level the contest. It was Gouiri’s third league goal in as many matches.

Sinayoko restored the visitors’ advantage 11 minutes later, rising unmarked to head home Pablo Pagis’ cross.

Marseille refused to give up and drew level again nine minutes after the restart. Gouiri completed his brace with a close-range volley from a difficult angle.

With Marseille pressing for a winning goal, Paris FC found an opening late in the game. Moses Simon’s effort struck the arm of CJ Egan-Riley, prompting the referee to award a penalty after a VAR review.

Sinayoko converted from the spot in the 85th minute to complete his hat-trick and secure all three points for the visitors.

“For now, I just want to win the next match,” said Paris coach Rosenior, bidding to rebuild his career after a disappointing spell at Chelsea.

“We believe we can achieve something in the long run by building things up. But in the short term, we have to keep working hard, stay humble and focus only on the next game.”

The defeat leaves Marseille with back-to-back losses after they opened their campaign with a convincing 4-0 victory over Strasbourg.

Bruno Genesio’s team will now look to recover from their difficult start under their new coach.

Strasbourg thrash Troyes

Elsewhere, Strasbourg recorded a convincing 6-2 victory over promoted Troyes, with English winger Sam Amo-Ameyaw scoring twice after coming on as a substitute.

Troyes opened the scoring in the ninth minute through Antoine Mille, but Strasbourg levelled before half-time when summer signing Jacobo Ortega tapped in his first league goal since joining from Real Madrid.

The visitors then took control after the break, with Diogo Sousa, Giovanni Reyna and loan signing Conrad Harder also finding the net.

Amo-Ameyaw completed Strasbourg’s rout with goals in the 85th and 88th minutes.

Strasbourg will face league leaders Monaco in their next Ligue 1 fixture.

Rennes also remained unbeaten after edging Angers 2-1, while defending champions Paris Saint-Germain are still searching for their first win after suffering a 2-1 home defeat to Monaco on Friday.

Lille claimed an away victory over Toulouse on Thursday, while Lens suffered their second consecutive defeat after losing 1-0 at home to Lorient.
