Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, scored as Atletico Madrid secured an impressive 3-1 victory over Sevilla in their La Liga clash on Saturday.
Atletico needed just four minutes to break the deadlock, with Alex Baena finishing off a pass from Kang-In Lee to give the visitors an early lead.
Lookman doubled Atletico’s advantage in the 26th minute.
The Nigerian forward found space inside the penalty area before calmly directing Pablo Barrios’ pass into the bottom-left corner.
The goal capped a lively performance from Lookman, who consistently troubled the Sevilla defence with his pace, movement and attacking intent.
Baena struck again seven minutes later, firing home from the edge of the box to complete his brace and send Atletico into the interval with a commanding 3-0 lead.
Sevilla responded with greater urgency after the break and pulled one back in the 66th minute through Miguel Sierra, who reacted quickest to a rebound inside the penalty area.
Lookman appeared to have added another shortly afterwards, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
He also saw another attempt from outside the box blocked before being substituted by Diego Simeone.
Atletico remained composed in the closing stages and prevented Sevilla from mounting a comeback, securing a convincing away win and three valuable points.
The victory underlined Atletico’s attacking strength, with Lookman making a significant contribution to another impressive performance.
