The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board will officially witness a change in leadership on Friday as its outgoing Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, hands over to his successor, Prof. Segun Aina.
JAMB announced that the handover ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. on July 31, 2026, and will be streamed live on the board’s official social media platforms.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, the examination body invited Nigerians to follow the event, describing it as an important milestone in its leadership transition.
“Join us for the live broadcast of the official handover ceremony as Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the outgoing Registrar of JAMB, formally hands over to Prof. Segun Aina,” the board stated.
The ceremony will mark the conclusion of Oloyede’s tenure as Registrar and the commencement of Aina’s leadership of the nation’s tertiary admissions agency.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier approved Aina’s appointment to succeed Oloyede. The announcement was conveyed in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the Presidency, Aina is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with extensive expertise in digital infrastructure, examination systems and institutional reforms.
The Presidency said Aina earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security, and a doctorate in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom.
He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
It added that the incoming Registrar has spent more than 15 years advising both federal and state governments on digital transformation, institutional reforms and systems design.
The statement also noted that Aina has worked as a consultant to examination bodies, including the National Examinations Council and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, particularly in the areas of ICT systems and examination integrity.
Describing him as one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of Computer Engineering, the Presidency said his appointment would make him the youngest Registrar in JAMB’s history.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that Aina would sustain and expand the reforms introduced during Oloyede’s administration while strengthening the operations of the examination body.
