Super Falcons forward, Joy Omewa, has completed a transfer to Swedish champions BK Häcken, marking another major step in her professional career.
The 23-year-old striker joins the Damallsvenskan leaders from English Women’s Championship club Nottingham Forest, where she impressed with her pace, movement and attacking ability during her spell in England.
Swedish broadcaster SVT reported that Häcken have finalised the signing as the club moves swiftly to strengthen its attacking options ahead of the second half of the season and its continental ambitions.
Omewa arrives as a direct reinforcement following the departure of Häcken’s leading scorer, Felicia Schröder, who recently secured a high-profile move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The Nigerian international is expected to help fill the void left by the prolific forward while adding depth, speed and goals to the reigning Swedish champions’ frontline.
The move also represents another significant milestone for Omewa, who continues her rise in European football after featuring for Nottingham Forest.
By joining one of Sweden’s most successful women’s clubs, she will have the opportunity to compete for domestic honours and potentially feature in European competitions.
BK Häcken currently sit at the top of the Damallsvenskan standings and will be hoping Omewa’s arrival provides the attacking spark needed to maintain their title challenge and sustain their success on multiple fronts.
