Man Utd agree £50m deal for Chelsea’s Andrey Santos

Manchester United have reached an agreement worth up to £50 million to sign Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos, according to several British media outlets, although neither club has officially confirmed the transfer.

Sky Sports reported late Wednesday that, “Manchester United have agreed a £50m deal to sign Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos.”

The broadcaster added that the Brazilian midfielder is expected to complete the remaining formalities before the transfer is officially finalised.

Meanwhile, The Guardian reported that United have completed a £48 million deal after previously revealing Chelsea’s valuation of the 22-year-old.

The newspaper said United accelerated their pursuit of Santos before reaching an agreement with Chelsea.

According to The Athletic, as cited by TNT Sports, the two clubs have agreed a package worth “£48m plus £2m in add-ons,” with “personal terms agreed” and Santos “granted permission to undergo a medical.”

The Times also reported that United have sealed a £50 million move, adding that Chelsea negotiated a 10 per cent sell-on clause as part of the agreement.

Similarly, talkSPORT stated that the transfer consists of “£48m upfront and £2m in add-ons,” while adding that Santos is expected to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford.

Neither Manchester United nor Chelsea had officially announced the deal at the time of publication.

Chelsea are yet to confirm Santos’ departure on their official platforms, while United have also not unveiled the Brazilian midfielder.

Santos joined Chelsea from Brazilian club Vasco da Gama in 2023 before loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg helped accelerate his development.

It was during his time at fellow BlueCo-owned Strasbourg that he established himself, impressing under Liam Rosenior and earning a place in Chelsea’s squad ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup.

Although he was not a regular starter ahead of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, Santos featured 43 times across all competitions for Chelsea last season, scoring three goals.

If the reported move is completed, the Brazilian will strengthen Manchester United’s midfield options for the new campaign, pending a successful medical and the completion of all transfer formalities.
