The Nigeria Democratic Congress has announced the closure of the sale of Expression of Interest Forms for aspirants seeking to contest the presidential election under the platform of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party, however, extended the deadline for the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for aspirants contesting State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and Governorship positions from May 17 to May 24, 2026.
This was contained in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the National Secretary of the party, Mr. Ikenna Enekweizu.
According to the statement, screening of aspirants who have purchased and completed their Expression of Interest Forms will commence on Tuesday and end on May 26.
The party also disclosed that the collection and submission of Nomination Forms for aspirants who successfully pass the screening process would begin on Wednesday and close on May 26.
The NDC stressed that no further extension would be granted beyond the announced deadline and urged aspirants to strictly adhere to the approved timetable and guidelines.
The statement directed all aspirants to appear for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated venues nationwide with relevant documents.
Required documents include educational certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, passport photographs, voter’s identification card, NDC membership card, and curriculum vitae.
The party further stated that all documents submitted by aspirants must be provided in six copies.
According to the statement, the screening exercise would be guided by factors such as the wishes of the electorate, local peculiarities, competence, capacity, and character of aspirants.
“The Screening Committee will also take into account the party’s affirmative action policy for women, youths, and persons living with disabilities,” the statement noted.
The NDC also encouraged aspirants to embrace consensus-building during the process, adding that only aspirants cleared by the Screening Committee would be eligible to purchase Nomination Forms.
