Inter Milan’s French contingent propelled them into the Coppa Italia semi-finals with a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over Torino.
Ange-Yoan Bonny and Andy Diouf put the Serie A leaders in command at Monza’s U-Power Stadium, San Siro remains unavailable, building a 2-0 cushion before Sandro Kulenovic pulled one back for the visitors.
Despite the late push, Torino could not halt the nine-time champions, who have now won 17 of their last 23 matches across all competitions.
The opening exchanges were intense, with Carlos Augusto striking the crossbar from distance after 20 minutes, while Matteo Prati saw a close-range effort sail over the bar following Nikola Vlasic’s clever setup.
Inter finally broke the deadlock in the 35th minute when debutant Issiaka Kamate carved out space on the right and delivered a precise cross for Bonny, who headed past Alberto Paleari to give the hosts the lead.
Just two minutes into the second half, Diouf doubled the advantage after Marcus Thuram set him up with a perfectly timed pullback.
Torino threatened in response, with Alieu Njie, Vlasic, and Adrien Tamèze all going close, and they halved the deficit in the 57th minute when Kulenovic, on loan from Dinamo Zagreb, headed Marcus Pedersen’s deflected delivery into the net for his first goal with the club.
Inter regained composure as Davide Frattesi’s 65th-minute strike was saved, while Prati’s 74th-minute equaliser was ruled out for offside.
Torino’s struggles continued as they slipped to their 14th defeat in 15 meetings against Inter.
