EPL: Tottenham beat West Ham 3-0

Tottenham Hotspur delivered a resounding 3-0 triumph over West Ham United in Saturday’s London derby, claiming their first victory at the London Stadium since November 2019.

West Ham started the match with energy, as Mohammed Kudus caught the eye and drew jeers from Spurs supporters while playing a key role in the early attacks.

El Hadji Diouf’s service caused problems for the visitors, and Lucas Paquetá came close with a shot that narrowly missed the target.

The Hammers thought they had taken the lead midway through the first half when Cristian Romero headed in from a Kudus corner, only for the goal to be chalked off for a foul by Micky van de Ven.

Tottenham, however, slowly took control. Pape Matar Sarr and Pedro Porro combined to create chances, while goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario made a crucial save from a dangerous Jarrod Bowen cross.

Spurs struck early after the break, opening the scoring within two minutes. Sarr rose to meet Xavi Simons’ header, nodding it home to give Tottenham the lead.

Bowen attempted to spark a West Ham revival, but Vicario remained unyielding. The hosts’ hopes were extinguished when Tomáš Souček was shown a red card for a reckless challenge on João Palhinha.

From the ensuing free-kick, Lucas Bergvall’s header sailed over the goalkeeper to double Spurs’ lead.

Later, Micky van de Ven wrapped up the scoring in the 64th minute with a precise strike into the bottom corner, sending the travelling Spurs fans into rapturous celebrations.

The victory, Tottenham’s third win in four league games this season, highlighted their strong start.

Meanwhile, West Ham’s brief high following their win over Nottingham Forest has faded, as David Moyes’ side suffered their fourth defeat in five matches across all competitions.
