Brentford reject improved £62.5m Man Utd bid for Mbeumo

Brentford have turned down a second bid from Manchester United for Bryan Mbeumo, valued at £62.5 million, according to Sky Sports.

The improved offer matches the fee United paid to land Matheus Cunha from Wolves, but it still falls short of Brentford’s valuation of the 25-year-old winger.

United had earlier tabled a £55 million offer which was also rejected, though negotiations between both clubs remain ongoing.

Mbeumo is reportedly keen on making the move to Old Trafford.

Sky Sports News had earlier disclosed that Tottenham Hotspur also entered the race for Mbeumo, holding preliminary talks with Brentford.

The player is said to be “intrigued by Spurs,” especially after the club’s recent appointment of his former manager, Thomas Frank. However, a source told Sky Sports News that Mbeumo “is leaning towards United.”

Manchester United have long admired the Cameroon international and believe he suits new manager Ruben Amorim’s tactical setup.

Inside Brentford, there is growing acceptance that Mbeumo deserves a move to a bigger club, if the right price is met.

Last season, Mbeumo was in prolific form, scoring 20 Premier League goals and playing a crucial role in Brentford’s top-half finish.
