Alan Shearer has ramped up the expectations on Arsenal, stressing that the club cannot afford another season without a Premier League title given their resources and squad quality.
Since the 2022/23 season, the Gunners have been steadily closing in on ending their long wait for a league crown, methodically assembling a squad capable of competing at the very top.
Arsenal’s Growth and Title Ambitions
In recent years, Arsenal have successfully retained their key players while gradually strengthening their squad.
This continuity allowed the club to make strategic additions over the summer, enhancing an already talented team.
Consequently, Arsenal are now seen as one of the Premier League’s strongest contenders for the title and a potential force in the Champions League.
With the club aiming for its first league triumph in twenty years, expectations are sky-high. However, the quality within the squad leaves little room for excuses.
Shearer emphasized the importance of this season, noting that the combination of steady growth and significant investment makes winning essential. Speaking to the Daily Mail (via One Football), he said:
“It has to be Arsenal’s year to win the Premier League. They’ve spent an absolute fortune, finished second for the last three years so we know, and Arteta knows that the eyes will be on him and he has to win the Premier League this year. When you spend the amount of money that they have, second is no good.”
