A British man in his sixties has admitted drugging and raping his wife over a period of about 20 years, pleading guilty to 60 offences against her at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.
The husband, who cannot be named to protect his wife’s legal right to anonymity, had previously admitted several charges, including rape.
He became visibly emotional as he repeatedly said “guilty” while responding to dozens of charges.
The offences he admitted include multiple counts of rape, assault by penetration and administering a substance with intent.
At one point during the proceedings, the judge invited him to sit down in the dock.
The woman, who had been married to the defendant for decades, watched the proceedings from the public gallery alongside members of her family.
The offences committed against her are alleged to have started in 2004.
The husband, who is from the Stockport area of Greater Manchester, will be sentenced for the offences he has admitted after the conclusion of the ongoing trial.
Meanwhile, 12 other men are denying multiple serious sexual offences involving the same woman.
Their alleged offences are said to have occurred between September 2018 and November 2025.
A 13th man has previously admitted sexual offences against the woman, while the trial involving the remaining defendants is expected to continue in the coming weeks.
