Bayern Munich were held to a 3-3 draw by Norwegian champions Viking on Tuesday after Michael Olise was sent off, with Herman Haugen scoring a late equaliser in their UEFA Champions League encounter.
Bayern fell two goals behind in the first half after Gianni Stensness opened the scoring just 72 seconds into the match before Peter Christiansen doubled Viking’s advantage in the 38th minute.
However, England captain Harry Kane inspired a remarkable comeback, converting a penalty shortly after the restart before heading home Joshua Kimmich’s cross in the 60th minute to restore parity.
Luis Diaz then completed Bayern’s turnaround, putting the German giants ahead after benefiting from a rebound following a saved effort by Konrad Laimer.
The goal came 10 minutes after Kane’s assist, giving Bayern a 3-2 lead.
Bayern appeared poised to secure victory until Olise received two yellow cards within a minute, first for a foul and then for dissent. His dismissal left the visitors with 10 men for the closing stages.
Viking capitalised on their numerical advantage, with Haugen finding the net in the 90th minute to secure a memorable draw against the German champions.
Olise’s sending-off means the French winger will miss Bayern’s next Champions League fixture against English champions Arsenal in Munich next week.
Meanwhile, Kane extended his scoring streak to nine consecutive Champions League matches, equalling Bayern legend Robert Lewandowski’s club record.
The striker is now two matches short of Cristiano Ronaldo’s competition record of scoring in 11 successive games.
The result comes days after Bayern conceded the fastest goal in Bundesliga history during their 2-2 draw against Augsburg on Saturday, marking another frustrating outing for the German side.
