UCL: Kane’s goal hands Bayern Munich 2-1 win over Real Madrid

Harry Kane struck the decisive goal as Bayern Munich claimed a vital 2-1 away win over Real Madrid in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash on Tuesday.

The visitors produced an impressive display at the Santiago Bernabeu and were rewarded just before the break when Luis Diaz opened the scoring in the 41st minute.

The Colombian winger finished calmly after being picked out by Serge Gnabry, giving Bayern a deserved lead heading into half-time.

Bayern wasted no time after the restart as Kane doubled their advantage less than 30 seconds into the second half.

The England captain latched onto a quick attacking move before firing home from the edge of the box to put the German champions firmly in control.

Despite falling two goals behind, Kylian Mbappe gave Real Madrid hope in the 74th minute.

The French forward converted from close range after meeting a low cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold to reduce the deficit and set up a tense finish.

Real Madrid pushed hard for an equaliser in the closing stages, with Mbappe and Vinicius Junior both going close, but Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer produced several important saves to preserve the lead.
