Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has revealed that striker Viktor Gyokeres will miss the Gunners’ Champions League trip to Slavia Prague on Tuesday.
Gyokeres was substituted at half-time during Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Burnley last weekend, with Mikel Merino coming on in his place.
After the match, Arteta described the issue as a “muscular” problem.
It now seems that the Swedish forward has not recovered in time for the crucial clash against Slavia.
“We need to do some more tests and scans to understand the extent of the injury,” Arteta told reporters today, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding Gyokeres’ fitness.
The Spaniard will have to adjust his attacking options as Arsenal look to maintain their perfect start in the Champions League, having won all three of their opening group-stage fixtures.
The team will be aiming to continue their winning streak and secure another three points in the Czech Republic, strengthening their position at the top of the group.
