UCL: Bodo/Glimt draw Dortmund 2-2

Borussia Dortmund missed the opportunity to force their way back into the Champions League’s top eight after being held to a 2-2 draw by Bodo/Glimt at Signal Iduna Park.

Having slipped out of the automatic last-16 spots following Tuesday’s results, BVB had the chance to rise as high as third with a win.

But the night belonged to Bodo’s resilience, as the Norwegian side twice came from behind to earn a crucial point.

Julian Brandt looked in inspired form, firing Dortmund ahead after 18 minutes with a precise finish on the counter. However, the visitors hit back before the break when Haitam Aleesami rose highest to head home the equaliser.

Brandt restored Dortmund’s lead just six minutes into the second half, reacting quickest to tap in after Maximilian Beier’s header was parried into danger.

Still, Bodo refused to roll over, and Jens Petter Hauge pounced on a loose ball to sweep in a second equaliser with 15 minutes left.

Despite Dortmund generating 2.89 expected goals, they failed to make their dominance count.

Bodo, winless in nine European outings, may be staring at elimination, but this gritty display in one of Europe’s most intimidating stadiums will go down as one of their bravest performances.

Dortmund remain 10th, but the shared points will feel far more satisfying for the visitors.
