Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has appealed to her supporters to halt online attacks against her former protégé, Abike Shugaa, following their highly publicised fallout.
In a video shared on Snapchat on Monday, Abraham addressed her fanbase, popularly known as “Toyin Titans,” urging them to embrace forgiveness and move past the controversy that has dominated social media discussions in recent days.
“Please, to everybody, it’s okay. Please forgive her,” she said. “There is no one that cannot get angry… even Jesus was angry. Let everything slide. This is a new week. No distractions, please.”
The actress acknowledged that emotions may be running high but stressed the importance of restraint and unity among her followers. She also hinted at upcoming projects, encouraging fans to shift focus to her work.
“We have a big task ahead of us. We have a lot of YouTube movies coming, and we have something bigger coming in December,” she added.
Reflecting on past experiences, Abraham referenced the backlash she faced in previous years, particularly during political controversies, noting that the situation influenced her current stance.
“For those asking why I didn’t speak before… that period was difficult. I have learnt my lesson, and she too has learnt hers. Let it slide and let’s move on,” she said.
The appeal comes amid fresh developments involving Shugaa, who recently disclosed that YouTube flagged parts of a video she posted about their dispute over privacy concerns.
According to her, the platform highlighted specific sections for review, giving her the option to edit or remove them, although no sanctions have been issued.
The disagreement between the two became public after Shugaa released a detailed video recounting her relationship with Abraham, including claims of mentorship, support, and a subsequent breakdown marked by allegations of control and betrayal. Abraham has denied the allegations and maintained that she would not engage in a prolonged public exchange.
Tensions reportedly escalated after Shugaa accepted a promotional package linked to a project by Funke Akindele, which she said contributed to the strain in their relationship.
While Shugaa insists she is finally sharing her side after years of silence, Abraham has continued to call for calm, urging fans to avoid further escalation online.
