Super Eagles star, Wilfred Ndidi, has been appointed vice-captain of Turkish Super Lig giants Beşiktaş, according to a statement released on the club’s official website.
The announcement, endorsed by club president Serdal Adalı and the board of directors, confirmed a reshuffle in the team’s leadership structure.
“In line with the decision of our Board of Directors and the recommendation of our technical staff, players occupying more influential positions on the pitch have been chosen to lead the team,” the statement read.
“Accordingly, Orkun Kökçü has been named first captain of our senior team, while Wilfred Ndidi will serve as the second captain. We extend our gratitude to Necip Uysal and Mert Günok for their service during their time as captains and wish our new leaders great success.”
Ndidi, 28, joined Beşiktaş from English side Leicester City during the summer transfer window and has already featured six times in the Turkish Super Lig this season.
