Liverpool manager Arne Slot says he will meet with Mohamed Salah on Friday morning before deciding whether the forward will feature in this weekend’s clash with Brighton.
Salah had publicly accused the club of throwing him “under the bus” and claimed he had no relationship with Slot after being benched for last week’s 3-3 draw at Leeds, his third consecutive game without a start.
The 33-year-old also skipped Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Inter Milan, which Liverpool won 1-0, instead posting a photo of himself working alone in the gym at the club’s training facility.
Addressing the situation, Slot said during his pre-match press conference, “I will have a conversation with Mo this morning, the outcome of that conversation determines how things will look tomorrow.
“I think the next time I speak about Mo should be with him and not in here. You can keep on trying but there is not much more to say about it.
“After the Sunderland game (a 1-1 draw earlier this month in which Salah was a substitute) there were a lot of conversations between his representatives and ours, between him and me.”
While deflecting further questions, Slot added: “I have no reasons not wanting him to stay, and that is a little bit of an answer to your question.”
Salah is expected to join Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations after the Brighton fixture at Anfield. The forward, who sits third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list, has won two Premier League titles and a Champions League crown during his time at the club.
However, he has struggled to find form this season, scoring only four goals in 13 league appearances. Liverpool, last season’s Premier League champions, currently sit 10th after a worrying dip in performances.
