Barcola joins Liverpool from PSG for £123m

Liverpool have completed the signing of France international Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth up to £123 million.

The Premier League champions will pay an initial £106 million for the 23-year-old forward, with a further £17 million available in potential add-ons.

PSG had initially placed a £145 million valuation on the player.

Barcola has signed a five-year contract with Liverpool and becomes the club’s fifth signing of the summer, following Victor Munoz, Jeremy Jacquet, Ronald Araujo and Ifeanyi Ndukwe.

Speaking after completing the move, Barcola said, “It took a long time but I’m really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool and all I want is to be on the pitch and be able to play.”

He added, “I hope to achieve very big things. First of all, winning the Premier League – it’s one of my biggest dreams in my life.

“It is to do that and to stay in this team in the long term – that’s why I signed a long contract – and I hope I can do it.”

Barcola will wear the number 29 shirt at Anfield.

Although primarily a left winger, he is capable of playing in different positions across the attack.

The Frenchman is expected to provide additional attacking options for Andoni Iraola’s side following Mohamed Salah’s departure, Hugo Ekitike’s long-term injury and uncertainty surrounding Cody Gakpo’s future.

Barcola made 49 appearances for PSG last season, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists in all competitions.

He also featured in all eight of France’s matches at the 2026 World Cup, scoring three goals as the team finished in the third-place play-off.

The forward joined PSG from Lyon in 2023 for a reported £38.5 million and went on to win three Ligue 1 titles, two Champions League trophies, two French Cups, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

Liverpool’s overall fee also includes a payment to cover the solidarity amount PSG owed Lyon from Barcola’s transfer to the Parisian club three years ago.

Barcola’s statistics last season highlighted his attacking threat.

He averaged 3.5 shots per 90 minutes in Ligue 1, while his expected goals figure of 9.83 placed him in the 95th percentile among wingers in Europe’s top five leagues.

He scored 11 league goals from those chances and also ranked highly for carries ending in shots, penalty-area touches and possessions won in the final third.

His ability to press aggressively and attack dangerous areas is expected to complement Iraola’s tactical demands as Liverpool prepare for another Premier League campaign.
