Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola after reportedly submitting an improved €135m offer for the France international.
According to Foot01, the Reds have significantly increased their proposal after previous bids of just over €100m failed to convince the French champions.
The latest development comes after Barcola was left out of PSG’s matchday squad for their game against Lens, further fuelling speculation over his future.
Barcola is reportedly keen on a move to Anfield and has maintained his desire to join Liverpool during the current transfer window.
The Premier League club are now hoping their improved offer will persuade PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi to approve the transfer.
PSG had previously placed an internal valuation of close to €150m on the winger.
However, club officials are now said to be considering accepting a lower fee as negotiations with Liverpool advance.
The decision to omit Barcola from the squad against Lens has added to suggestions that his departure could be approaching, although PSG manager Luis Enrique has declined to comment publicly on the player’s immediate future.
Liverpool’s renewed push has also cast doubt on reports linking Barcola with Arsenal.
Although the Gunners have shown interest in the winger, there have reportedly been no direct negotiations between Arsenal and PSG.
With talks between Liverpool and PSG already at an advanced stage, the Reds appear to be in pole position to secure the 23-year-old, with both clubs now working towards a possible agreement in the coming days.
Barcola’s potential departure would mark one of the biggest transfers of the summer, particularly given his importance to PSG since joining the club from Lyon.
