Air‑raid sirens wailed across Jerusalem and central Israel on Tuesday as the Israeli military sounded the alarm over incoming missiles launched by Iran, marking the 11th day of the ongoing war involving the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic.
“The defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat,” the military said in a statement, as at least one loud blast was heard over Jerusalem by AFP journalists.
Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom, reported that there were no immediate fatalities from the latest barrage, but its teams were treating a “small number of people who were injured on their way to protected areas, as well as individuals suffering from anxiety.”
Across the country, first responders say 11 people have now been killed and dozens more wounded in Israel since Iran began firing missiles in retaliation for joint US‑Israeli strikes.
Among the recent casualties, at least one man was killed and another seriously injured in central Israel when shrapnel hit a construction site, emergency crews confirmed.
The exchanges come amid sustained Iranian retaliation, which has seen ballistic missile salvos and other attacks launched toward Israeli territory in response to strikes on Iranian targets linked to its nuclear and military infrastructure.
In a statement on Tuesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed that Israel’s campaign was far from over, saying the military offensive against Iran was “not done yet.” This came shortly after US President Donald Trump said the conflict would be over “soon.”
The confrontation has also triggered global economic repercussions, with energy markets destabilised and fears of further escalation persisting among regional and international observers.
