Serie A: Lazio rescue point against Torino

Lazio salvaged a dramatic 3-3 draw against Torino at the Stadio Olimpico, leaving them with just two wins from 15 home Serie A matches this season (D9, L4).

Torino, one of only two teams yet to score a first-half goal this term, broke the deadlock early.

Cyril Ngonge tested Lazio keeper Ivan Provedel, who had already made a joint-league high 20 saves before this round.

Provedel parried Marcus Pedersen’s follow-up, only for the rebound to fall to Giovanni Simeone, who tapped in his eighth league goal in nine matches, continuing his streak of scoring either the opener or the winner, including September’s decisive goal against Roma at this ground.

Lazio responded through Matteo Cancellieri, whose powerful strike from distance beat Franco Israel to level the score.

Torino remained dangerous, with Kristjan Asllani nearly producing a spectacular solo effort from distance, but Provedel kept Lazio in the game.

Cancellieri then gave Lazio the lead before halftime, cutting inside and curling a precise shot under Israel to make it 2-1. Torino, however, refused to concede, with Ché Adams lashing home to restore parity at 2-2.

Drama struck late when Saúl Coco headed in a stoppage-time goal to seemingly hand Torino the win at 3-2.

Yet Lazio had the final say: nine minutes into added time, they were awarded a penalty, and Danilo Cataldi calmly converted to secure a 3-3 draw.
