Frosinone secured a 2-0 victory over Torino in their Serie A encounter on Sunday, scoring twice in the second half to claim all three points at the Stadio Benito Stirpe.
The hosts broke the deadlock three minutes after the restart through Farès Ghedjemis, who converted a pass from Giorgi Kvernadze following a corner-kick situation.
Torino attempted to respond by increasing their attacking pressure, but Frosinone remained organised defensively and continued to threaten on the counter.
The visitors made several substitutions in search of an equaliser, introducing Nathan Patterson and Emirhan İlkhan at half-time before bringing on Duván Zapata and Gaetano Oristanio in the 71st minute.
However, Frosinone maintained their advantage and eventually doubled their lead in the 90th minute when Giacomo Calò finished off a counter-attacking move.
The midfielder received a pass from substitute Wisdom Amey before calmly directing his effort into the net to seal the victory.
Despite enjoying more possession, Torino struggled to create clear-cut opportunities, finishing with three shots on target compared to Frosinone’s eight.
Frosinone also dominated the overall attacking statistics, recording 20 attempts against Torino’s 12 and producing an expected goals figure of 1.89 compared to the visitors’ 0.66.
Calò was instrumental in the victory, scoring once and delivering an impressive midfield performance, while Ghedjemis also made a significant contribution with the opening goal.
The result handed Frosinone a valuable victory in the Italian top flight, with Torino left to reflect on a disappointing outing despite their greater share of possession.
