Declan Rice has expressed confidence that Arsenal remain firmly on course to win the Premier League title this season, despite having previously let a nine-point advantage slip over Manchester City.
The Gunners returned to the summit of the table following a narrow 1-0 victory against Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium last weekend.
Mikel Arteta’s side now have the opportunity to open up a six-point gap over their closest challengers if they secure another win against Fulham in their next league outing.
“That’s what it’s been all season and that’s what we want it to be towards the end of the season – staying top, staying positive,” Rice was quoted on Arsenal News Channel X handle.
“There are four games to go and that’s what we want to do, keep winning more matches and we’re going to be ready for that.
“The three points against Newcastle yesterday were massive. After the week we had against Manchester City, we knew with five games left, we have to win all five. To tick that one off was a real boost, so we’re really, really happy with the win.”
Focus now turns to European competition, as Arsenal prepare for a crucial UEFA Champions League semi-final clash away to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
In their earlier meeting during the group stage, Arsenal produced a dominant display to secure a 4-0 victory.
