Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique described it as a “perfect evening” after his side stormed back to the top of Ligue 1 with an emphatic 4-0 win over OGC Nice on Saturday.
The Parisians delivered a clinical performance, with Nuno Mendes opening the scoring from the penalty spot just before halftime.
After the break, Desire Doue, Dro Fernandez, and Warren Zaire-Emery all found the net to seal a dominant victory.
Nice’s task became even harder midway through the second half when Youssouf Ndayishimiye was sent off, just months after returning from a lengthy knee injury, leaving the hosts to finish the match with 10 men.
The win lifts PSG one point above RC Lens, who had earlier thrashed Angers SCO 5-1, although Lens have played a game more. Both title contenders are set to face off on April 11 in a potentially decisive clash.
Speaking after the match, Enrique cautioned that the title race remains far from over.
He acknowledged the difficulty of maintaining momentum after European fixtures, bfollowing PSG’s recent UEFA Champions League success over Chelsea FC, but praised his team’s control and efficiency..
Despite missing several key players, PSG showed their depth. Mendes not only converted from the spot but also assisted Doue, while Ousmane Dembele made an impact off the bench, contributing to the final two goals.
Fernandez marked his first goal for the club since arriving from FC Barcelona, and Zaire-Emery added the finishing touch late on.
However, the victory came at a cost, with injuries to Senny Mayulu and Lee Kang-in adding to PSG’s concerns.
