Ousmane Dembele scored twice as Paris Saint-Germain produced a dominant display to thrash arch-rivals Marseille 5-0 and return to the top of Ligue 1 at the Parc des Princes.
The French winger struck early and added a second before the break, setting the tone for a one-sided contest as PSG sent a strong message ahead of the decisive phase of the season.
Facundo Medina’s own goal shortly after the hour mark stretched the lead, before substitutes Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Lee Kang-in added further goals to complete the rout.
The emphatic victory also served as revenge for PSG’s 1-0 defeat at the Velodrome earlier in the campaign.
Luis Enrique’s men have now won seven consecutive league matches, although they remain under pressure from surprise contenders Lens, who are just two points behind after briefly moving top on Saturday.
PSG took control in the 12th minute when Desire Doue released Nuno Mendes down the left. The Portuguese wing-back squared the ball across goal for Dembele to finish calmly past goalkeeper Jeffrey de Lange.
Marseille briefly threatened when Amine Gouiri met a cross inside the area, but PSG goalkeeper Matvei Safonov reacted quickly to keep out the effort.
The hosts, enjoying a rare full week without a match, looked sharper and continued to create chances.
Dembele doubled the lead in the 37th minute with a moment of individual brilliance, shrugging off Leonardo Balerdi, evading Medina, and firing a powerful shot into the net.
PSG nearly added a third when Doue’s effort brushed the post, but the goal eventually arrived on 64 minutes.
Medina inadvertently headed into his own net while trying to intercept a lofted pass aimed at Kvaratskhelia.
The Georgian winger, returning from injury, soon made his mark with a superb volley from Dembele’s looping cross to make it four. Lee Kang-in then completed the scoring, drilling a low shot past De Lange from close range.
PSG could have added more in the closing stages, with Kvaratskhelia and Mendes both hitting the crossbar, but the heavy defeat was already a bitter blow for Marseille, who were still reeling from their recent Champions League exit.
