Police investigate delivery of live ammunition to FirstBank MD in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the mysterious delivery of a parcel containing live ammunition to the Managing Director of FirstBank, Mr Oluwasegun Alebiosu.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Tijani Fatai, disclosed this during a media briefing on Tuesday at the command headquarters, stating that detectives were working to uncover those behind the incident.

According to Fatai, the case was reported to the police on May 7, 2026, after two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were allegedly found inside a package delivered to the bank executive.

He explained that the parcel was first received by Alebiosu’s security guard before it was handed over to him.

“The Managing Director informed the police after discovering two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition concealed in a parcel that had been collected on his behalf,” the commissioner said.

He added, “The matter remains under investigation, and we are handling it with the seriousness it requires.”

Investigations revealed that the package was delivered to Alebiosu’s residence in the Ikoyi area of Lagos by a dispatch rider. The parcel was reportedly labelled “confidential” and carried only the recipient’s name and address, without any indication of the sender’s identity.

Fatai disclosed that no arrests had been made so far but noted that investigators were pursuing several leads.

“We are examining all available information and following multiple leads to determine the source of the parcel and those responsible for its delivery,” he said.

The police commissioner further stated that detectives were analysing information supplied by the complainant and conducting forensic and intelligence-based investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He assured Lagos residents that the command would keep the public informed as progress is made in the case.

The development has raised fresh concerns about the safety and security of top corporate executives and other prominent individuals across the country.
