Police debunk viral reports of cult clash in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed widespread reports of an impending cult-related clash in parts of Lagos, describing the information as false and misleading.

In a statement released on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said the command had already taken precautionary measures to prevent any breakdown of law and order in the areas mentioned in the viral alert.

The message, which circulated on social media, had raised concerns about a possible retaliatory attack in locations such as Shitta, Akerele, Itire/Aguda, and the Ishaga axis.

“The Command wishes to categorically state that it has taken proactive and decisive measures to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the affected areas and beyond,” Adebisi said.

The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, also directed an усиление of security operations across the locations to ensure residents’ safety.

“The Commissioner of Police has ordered intensified patrols, strategic deployment of officers, and increased visibility in the identified flashpoints to guarantee the protection of lives and property,” the statement added.

The command maintained that the areas referenced in the viral message remain calm, with sufficient security presence to deter any criminal activity.
