Pastor Dolapo Lawal of Zoe Household Church has publicly apologised to supporters of Arsenal FC after the North London side clinched the Premier League title, following a decisive draw involving Manchester City FC against Bournemouth FC.
The cleric had earlier gone viral for a bold pre-season prediction in which he ruled Arsenal out of the title race in strong and controversial terms.
His comments sparked widespread debate among fans on social media, particularly because of the certainty of his claims.
In his earlier statement, he said, “Arsenal cannot win… even if the gap is 29 points Arsenal cannot win… there is a way you will watch a club you don’t need prophet, they are cursed.”
Following Arsenal’s official confirmation as champions, Pastor Lawal released a new video on social media, where he publicly withdrew his remarks and extended an invitation to supporters for a thanksgiving programme.
In the video, he said, “Arsenal fans, special Thanksgiving service for you in Zoe Household on Sunday. Come with your jersey. We are going to thank God for you people. This is my apology, public apology… Congrats.”
