Oyo holds confirmation exam for 4,500 junior civil servants

The Oyo State Government has conducted its 2026 mandatory confirmation examination for more than 4,500 junior civil servants seeking confirmation of their appointments.

The examination, organised by the Ministry of Establishments and Training, was conducted simultaneously at seven designated centres across the state.

The exercise covered officers on Grade Levels 1 to 6, including clerical officers, clerical assistants, store attendants and other related cadres.

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday and made available to journalists in Ibadan.

The state government explained that the examination was a compulsory requirement for officers appointed into junior cadres before they could secure confirmation of their appointments.

“All officers appointed to junior cadres are required to pass the mandatory examination within two years of their appointment to qualify for confirmation of their employment or otherwise,” the statement said.

Speaking to candidates at the Simeon Adebo Staff Development Centre, which served as the examination venue for Ibadan Zones 1 and 2, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Hameed Alade Bello, urged participants to remain calm and give the examination their best effort.

Bello described the exercise as an important step in the officers’ career progression, assuring candidates that all eligible officers would be given the opportunity to sit for the examination.

He said, “I encourage you to put in your best and pass this examination. It is a window to further career development.”

The Permanent Secretary also appealed to candidates awaiting their turn in different batches to exercise patience during the process.

The examination tested candidates on areas including Public Service Rules I and II, as well as current affairs.

The government said the results would be released after the scripts had been graded and communicated to the candidates through their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
