One person has been confirmed dead and 18 others injured following a road traffic crash involving a Toyota Hummer bus along the Yola–Kano highway in Adamawa State.

The accident involved a Toyota Hummer bus with registration number BLD 471 XL, which was transporting 19 occupants, including the driver.

“Unfortunately, one passenger died as a result of the injuries sustained, while 18 others were rescued alive and taken to the General Hospital in Numan for treatment,” Timothy said.

He explained that emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene and evacuated the injured victims for medical attention.

According to the FRSC commander, preliminary findings indicated that over-speeding was the primary cause of the accident.

“Our investigation so far points to excessive speed as the major factor that led to the crash,” he noted, warning motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits and other traffic regulations.
