Olympic qualifier: Comoros coach eyes win over Super Falcons

Comoros coach Yusuf Abdallah has expressed confidence that his team can defeat Nigeria’s Super Falcons in their 2028 Olympic Games qualifying fixture.

The first leg of the second-round qualifier is scheduled to take place at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne on Friday.

Comoros advanced to the second round after thrashing Sudan 30-0 on aggregate in the previous qualifying round.

However, the island nation faces a difficult challenge against the Super Falcons, who are 10-time African champions.

Despite acknowledging the importance of the encounter, Abdallah believes his players can secure a positive result against the Nigerian side.

“We are here to play a serious match and give ourselves the best possible chance by making the most of our opportunities. As you know, in football, a match is never won until it has been played,” Abdallah told a press conference in Ikenne.

“It is an important match for everyone, both Nigeria and the Comoros. Of course, if we lose, we will be disappointed, but we are not thinking about defeat.”
