Ødegaard blames mistakes for Arsenal loss to Man Utd at Emirates

Arsenal skipper, Martin Ødegaard, has given his reasons for the Gunners’ home defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.

The loss, a 3–2 setback at the Emirates Stadium, saw Arsenal’s advantage at the top of the Premier League table reduced to four points.

Reflecting on the result in an interview with Sky Sports, Ødegaard did not hide his disappointment with the team’s display.

“It wasn’t good enough from us. We need some time to analyse it now but it was not good enough, the performance.
“We should have done better but now is the time to stick together even more and keep working, be together, and bounce back.”

The Norwegian midfielder said Arsenal began the match brightly and appeared to be in control during the early stages.

According to him, the Gunners dominated the first half and merited their opening goal, but lapses in concentration proved costly.

He acknowledged that those mistakes handed Manchester United a route back into the contest.

He said, “In the first half, we were the better team, scored the goal and had control of the game but we had a lot of giveaways in the game that created dangerous moments and in the second half the game changed a little bit.”

Ødegaard stressed that the errors disrupted Arsenal’s rhythm and allowed the visitors to gain momentum as the match wore on, ultimately tilting the balance in United’s favour.
