NSCDC deploys officers for safe yuletide in Jigawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa State Command, has deployed personnel across all 27 local government areas to ensure peaceful Christmas and New Year festivities.

A statement issued on Monday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Badaruddeen Tijjani, explained that the deployment involves both regular and specialised units, including personnel from Operations, Anti-Vandal, and Intelligence divisions.

“These officers will provide effective security coverage for worship centres, public spaces, parks, markets, and other areas where crowds are expected,” Tijjani said.

The NSCDC commandant in the state urged officers to strictly follow standard operating procedures and maintain professionalism at all times.

He stressed that “places of worship, public utilities, and vulnerable areas are being protected, with major entry and exit points monitored for surveillance.”

Tijjani also called on residents to be law-abiding and report suspicious activities to security personnel.

“Parents and guardians should keep an eye on their wards, and the use of fireworks or dangerous items is discouraged to prevent accidents or fire outbreaks,” he advised.

The statement warned vandals and criminals against targeting government installations or public utilities, noting that “anyone apprehended will be dealt with according to the law.”
