Nollywood actor Jerry Williams has reportedly been taken into custody by Nigerian security operatives in what appears to be a controversial arrest.
The incident, which occurred on July 21, 2025, was disclosed by movie producer Stanley Ontop, who alleged the arrest was orchestrated by an individual known as Izutech (real name Nwafor Franklin).
According to Ontop, when he arrived at Williams’ apartment, the actor had already been taken away. “Before I reached Jerry’s apartment, they had already left. I chased them with my car yet, I didn’t see them,” Ontop stated in a social media post. The producer issued a strong warning, declaring that “if any harm befalls Jerry Williams, Izutech must be held accountable.”
This development comes amid ongoing concerns about the actor’s well-being. Williams has been publicly struggling with substance abuse issues, which led to his indefinite suspension from the Actors Guild of Nigeria in June 2023. At the time, the AGN cited concerns for both Williams’ safety and the safety of others on set due to his substance abuse problems.
The circumstances surrounding Williams’ arrest remain unclear, with no official statement yet released by security agencies.
