Nigerian-born Newcastle player Osula nominated for EPL Goal of the Season

Newcastle United forward William Osula has been nominated for the Premier League Goal of the Season award following his stunning strike against Manchester United.

The Danish-born Nigerian striker is among 10 players shortlisted for the prestigious accolade, with winners from clubs including Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Fulham, and West Ham United also in contention.

Osula’s goal came during a high-pressure clash with Manchester United, where Newcastle were reduced to 10 men for the entire second half.

Right-back Kieran Trippier released him down the right flank, and the 22-year-old did the rest—collecting the pass, cutting inside, and curling a superb effort into the far corner, leaving goalkeeper Senne Lammens stranded.

The strike earned Osula the Premier League Goal of the Month award for March 2026, making him the first Newcastle United player to win the honour this season and the club’s first recipient since Alexander Isak in December 2024.

He becomes only the sixth Newcastle player to win the monthly award since its introduction in 2016/17, with Miguel Almirón the only player to win it more than once.

Osula finished the Premier League campaign with seven goals in 24 appearances for Newcastle United, including a strong late-season run where he scored five times in his final six matches.

Meanwhile, reports suggest Osula is attracting transfer interest from Aston Villa, despite Newcastle’s reluctance to let him leave.
