The Nigeria Boxing Federation has approved the staging of the “Chaos in the Ring 4” boxing event scheduled to hold on Friday at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event, organised by Balmoral Group Promotions in collaboration with Amir Khan Promotions, will feature nine bouts, combining professional boxing contests with a high-profile celebrity fight between musician Habeeb “Portable” Badmus and skit maker Carter Efe.
The celebrity clash has generated buzz in the lead-up to the event, with both entertainers engaging in heated exchanges during pre-fight appearances.
Headlining the professional card is a World Boxing Organisation cruiserweight “Peace Fight” between Ezra Arenyeka and Godday Appah.
The bout has been framed as a symbolic contest representing unity between the Itsekiri and Ijaw communities of the Niger Delta, with the eventual winner expected to serve as a Peace Ambassador.
Other fights lined up include an international welterweight contest featuring British boxer Michael McKinson against Algeria’s Mohammad Sahnoun, alongside a super-middleweight clash between Ghanaian fighter Elvis Ahorgah and Joe Laws of Newcastle.
Additional bouts will see Raheem Animashaun take on Emmanuel Amos, while Basit Adebayo faces Loren Japhet in a WBO super-lightweight contest. Samuel Antwi is also billed to fight Paul Kamanga, as national middleweight champion Rasheed Adeyemo squares off against Nicolaus Mdoe. Seun Wahab will battle Saidi Mkola in another welterweight contest.
Speaking ahead of the event, NBF Vice-President Omonlei Imadu commended the organisers for their role in developing boxing in the country.
“We are pleased with the level of investment being made into professional boxing in Nigeria. Events like this contribute significantly to the growth of the sport,” Imadu said.
He also acknowledged the backing of the National Sports Commission, noting that ongoing reforms are helping to reposition boxing in Nigeria.
The event is expected to attract a wide audience and will be broadcast live on DAZN.
