E-Money gifts Carter Efe ₦50m after boxing match win

Lagos-based businessman and socialite, Emeka Okonkwo, has pledged to reward comedian Carter Efe with ₦50 million following his win over street-hop artiste Habeeb Okikiola in a celebrity boxing match.

The bout, part of the “Chaos in the Ring 4” event, took place at the Balmoral Hall Federal Palace Hotel on Friday night, drawing attention from fans of entertainment and combat sports.

E-Money confirmed the cash reward shortly after the fight, reiterating a promise he had made ahead of the contest.

“We stand by our word. Congratulations to Carter Efe on the victory — ₦50 million is yours,” he said.

The event’s organiser, Ezekiel Adamu, expressed satisfaction with how the night unfolded, noting that the show lived up to expectations.

“We delivered exactly what we promised — exciting and entertaining fights. We appreciate everyone who contributed to the success of this event,” Adamu said.

The match between Efe and Portable followed weeks of online exchanges and bold predictions. Portable, who had previously secured wins against celebrity opponents, had entered the ring confident of another triumph.

“I’ve beaten bigger opponents before. I’ll make it my third belt,” Portable had boasted before the fight.

Efe, however, dismissed the claims, responding with confidence ahead of the bout.

“It won’t take long just one punch,” he said.

Inside the ring, the comedian maintained composure against Portable’s aggressive but erratic approach.

Using his height advantage, Efe landed cleaner punches and controlled much of the fight, especially in the later rounds.

Judges scored the contest unanimously in Efe’s favour, awarding him victory with identical scores, confirming his dominance on the night.

In other bouts, Nigeria’s Godday Appah claimed the WBO Africa cruiserweight title after defeating Ezra Arenyeka in a closely contested split decision fight, described as a symbolic peace match between Niger Delta communities.

Similarly, Basit Adebayo secured another WBO Africa title after a unanimous decision win over former champion Loren Japhet.

The event marked another high-profile outing in Nigeria’s growing celebrity boxing scene, blending entertainment with competitive sport.
