Ligue 1 leaders Monaco were held to a 1-1 draw by Strasbourg at the Stade de la Meinau on Saturday, but the point was enough to keep them at the top of the table.
Monaco struggled to create clear chances early on, failing to register a shot on target during the opening 20 minutes despite enjoying much of the possession.
Strasbourg, meanwhile, disrupted the visitors’ rhythm through the work of Pape Diop and Gio Reyna in midfield.
The hosts grew stronger as the first half progressed and came close to taking the lead when Gessime Yassine fired a left-footed effort from 12 yards narrowly wide.
Strasbourg continued to apply pressure before the break, while Monaco goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen was rarely tested.
Strasbourg eventually broke the deadlock six minutes after the restart when Monaco defender Sadibou Sane misjudged the flight of a free-kick and headed the ball into his own net.
Monaco almost responded immediately, but Jorgensen produced an acrobatic one-handed save to turn Paris Brunner’s powerful header onto the post.
Brunner eventually restored parity for Monaco when he produced a stunning 30-yard strike into the top corner after driving forward from midfield.
Monaco then thought they had completed the comeback late on, but an 87th-minute goal was ruled out for offside.
The draw ended Monaco’s winning start to the 2026/27 Ligue 1 campaign, while Strasbourg extended their impressive run to seven points from their last three matches.
Monaco, however, remain top of the table.
