AS Monaco moved to the top of Ligue 1 on Friday after securing a 2-1 victory over Lens in their fifth league game of the season.
Paris Brunner put Monaco ahead in the 32nd minute after receiving a pass from Matthijs Abelin before calmly finding the back of the net.
The hosts held on to their advantage until the 57th minute when Lens restored parity through Matthieu Odol, who headed home from a corner kick.
Monaco continued to push for a winner and were rewarded four minutes from full-time when Lens defender Jonathan Gradit turned the ball into his own net.
The own goal proved decisive as Monaco held on for all three points and climbed to the summit of the Ligue 1 table.
The victory took Monaco’s tally to 11 points, one ahead of Lille, who have 10 points, while Lens remain on four points.
