Man Utd’s Dorgu out for two months with hamstring injury

Manchester United have been dealt a major setback with the news that Patrick Dorgu has suffered a hamstring injury.

The Denmark international, who was instrumental in United’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Arsenal on Sunday, is now expected to be sidelined for approximately 10 weeks.

Dorgu had scored United’s second goal at the Emirates Stadium with a powerful long-range effort and looked exceptional throughout the match.

However, he was seen clutching his hamstring in the final stages, and interim manager Michael Carrick’s hope that it was merely cramp has unfortunately proven unfounded.

“He obviously came off with, hopefully, a little bit of cramp, hopefully, it’s nothing worse,” Carrick said after the match. “At this stage, it’s hard to tell, so we’ll just have to wait and see. Hopefully it’s not too bad.”

Subsequent medical evaluations have confirmed the worst fears of supporters, with Dorgu likely to miss the next eight Premier League fixtures.

If the projected 10-week recovery holds, he could return in the home clash against Leeds on April 11.

Dorgu has been one of United’s standout performers since Carrick took over as interim manager.

Initially used as a left wing-back in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system, he has thrived as a left winger under Carrick, scoring in victories over both Manchester City (2-0) and Arsenal.

This season, Dorgu has made 22 Premier League appearances, registering three goals and three assists.

He now joins Matthijs de Ligt on the injury list, with the Netherlands defender having been out for the last 11 games due to a back issue sustained in December.
